Ruth graduated from Glasgow University (UK) with Honours in Psychology in 1995. She completed a Masters in Social Work at Bristol University in 1999 and began working in the criminal justice system following graduation, assessing and managing offenders. She gained an interest in high risk offenders, particularly sex offenders, and began providing treatment in this area in 2001. She worked for a period with the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) where she provided ‘Expert Witness’ reports in Court proceedings with a particular focus on the wellbeing of the child.

After arriving in Australia, she began working with Sex Offender Programs at Corrective Services NSW in 2008. She was involved in the development and provision of training to staff in this area, including risk assessment training for psychologists. She was also involved in the development/delivery of an intensive custody based treatment program for intellectually disabled men assessed as high risk of committing further sexual offences. She has continued to provide assessments and individual treatment, and developed a particular interest in the use of schema therapy.

She has recently joined Duffy Robilliard as a consultant and also continues to provide therapy in Chatswood.
